That's our security alarm. The alarm otherwise ensures that only material that has been checked out leaves the library. The library reserves the right to inspect bags for materials if the alarm goes off.

Sometimes, students might have books from other libraries, used books from the bookstore or videos/DVDs. Any of those may set off the alarms.

If you set off the alarm when you walk into the library, please stop by the circulation desk to get your material checked. We can make sure it doesn't set off the alarm on your way out. Thanks!

Each day, couriers delivering material from other libraries often set off the alarm: if they're carrying a stack of blue nylon bags, they're delivering interlibrary loan items for our students!
